Naturalistic light exposure patterns in relation to medication status, mood symptoms, and chronotype
Authors per journal record. npj Biological Timing and Sleep
Naturalistic light patterns differed in relation to chronotype and mood-related variables, reinforcing the importance of real-world exposure timing.

Sleep and light ecologies of parents with young infants: descriptive findings from the SUNSHINE project
Authors per journal record. npj Biological Timing and Sleep
Documents real-world light and sleep patterns in a population with fragmented sleep and distinctive household routines.

Workspace satisfaction: The privacy-communication trade-off in open-plan offices
Kim & de Dear. Journal of Environmental Psychology
Noise and loss of privacy were major sources of dissatisfaction, and perceived communication benefits did not offset them in more open layouts.

Longitudinal evidence for decreasing statistical learning abilities across childhood
Tóth-Fáber, Farkas, Tánczos, Németh & Janacsek. Nature Communications
Statistical learning declined between ages 7 and 14 in the same participants. Higher executive functions were associated with the decline. This confirms longitudinally what cross-sectional work had suggested: implicit pattern learning is strongest in early childhood.

Evaluating the Effect of Neighborhood-level Disadvantage on Brain Health: An Imaging Epidemiology Study
Willbrand et al. Radiology
Living in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods was associated with a higher brain age gap (about 2.7 to 3.0 years), lower total brain volume and more white matter hyperintensity, after adjusting for age and sex.

Human tau pathology is associated with lonely, nontraveling slow waves linked to memory impairment
Sharon, Chen, Dude, Westphal, Brown, Shah, Ju, Jagust & Walker. Nature Neuroscience
Frontal tau was associated with slow waves that stayed local instead of traveling across the cortex, and these 'lonely' slow waves were linked to worse overnight memory retention. The pattern replicated in a second group using CSF markers.

Green space exposure and risk of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a population-based case-control study in Northern Italy
Sarti et al. Environmental Health
Greenness and ALS risk followed a U-shape: odds were higher at both low and high greenness and lowest at intermediate levels. The pattern was clearest with NDVI-based indices and held after adjusting for magnetic fields and light at night.
ND-0132 · 2026 · Longitudinal observational study
Interrelations of work with health and wellbeing on a 50+ year old workforce assessed using longitudinal self-reports and actigraphy
Tsanas, Steffan, Dixon, Hay, Pschetz, Jandric & Loretto. Scientific Reports
Participants usually blamed poor sleep on short sleep, but actigraphy showed around 7 to 8 hours on average and pointed to disturbances and awakenings instead. Sleep efficiency, not duration, consistently predicted wellbeing and sleep quality scores. Job stress items were strongly associated with both.
